The Floating Palace On River Pichola

Posted on 21:48 by Unknown
As if rising out of legend, Lake Palace dominates the center of Lake Pichola. The palace is one of India's most famous and luxurious hotels. It was built in the middle of the 18th century by prince Maharana Jagat Singh II as a summer palace, where he famously entertained many guests and lovers. The palace was built on a natural rock foundation on the Jag Niwas Island. When the tide is low, the island can be seen. When it is high, the palace seems to be floating on the water.
After 2 centuries of serving as a private resort for the descendants of the prince, a place for them to experience ultimate luxury, the palace was converted into a luxury hotel in the 1960s. Today, guests are invited to enjoy the lavish interior and the royal butler service that are remanants of a long gone era. Even the shuttle service by luxury boat adds to the experience. It has 83 rooms and suites, all renovated with wooden forniture, silk upholsteries and a luxurious design.

Biggest Wedding Ceremony

Posted on 19:10 by Unknown
Spectacular Sri Lankan wedding is the world's biggest ever, with 126 bridesmaids, 25 best men, 20 pages and 23 flower girls. Planning a wedding is a major undertaking for any couple, but not for Nisansala and Nalin from Sri Lanka who married this week at a Guinness World Record breaking ceremony near the capital city of Colombo. The bride and groom had a staggering 126 bridesmaids - easily beating the previous record of 96 held by a Thai couple - all dressed by Champi Siriwardana, who is one of Asia's leading wedding planners and dress designers.

It also didn't hurt that the guest of honour was Sri Lanka's First Lady, Shiranthi Rajapaksa. The spectacular ceremony was elaborately staged at the Avendra Gardens in Negombo, 30 kms from Colombo in front of hundreds of family and friends. All of the wedding party - bride, groom, 126 bridesmaids, 25 best men, 20 page boys and 23 flower girls - were dressed in richly embroidered traditional costumes in shades of purple and gold. The wedding breaks the previous world record, held by a wedding in Bangkok, Thailand, that included 96 bridesmaids. 'Breaking the Guinness world record is no mean feat and one that I cannot achieve alone,' said Champi.

Giant Pumpkin Artwork

Posted on 18:21 by Unknown
Small, expertly carved pumpkins can be very impressive, but the folks at the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze Halloween celebration in New York went in a different direction by making impressively massive pumpkin arrangements. The event features more than 5,000 hand-carved pumpkins on their own or arranged in all kinds of impressive setups, including a massive skeletal triceratops and a terrifying human-spider skeleton hybrid. The epic Halloween celebration lasts for 25 days and features food, live music, art exhibitions and other live events.

According to the event’s organizers, “the tradition of gourd carving dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries in rural Ireland and England. People created jack o’lanterns for the old holidays of Samhain and All Souls’ Night when spirits were thought to be the most active. Grotesque faces carved into the objects were meant to frighten away any ghouls seeking to do harm". The Jack ‘O Lanterns themselves, they say, come from a legend about a man named Jack who, rejected from both heaven and hell, was doomed to wander the earth with a lantern that he carved out of a turnip and lit with a candle.

Floating Village On Lake Titicaca

Posted on 22:34 by Unknown
Just an ordinary day in the bed of grass floating on the lake Titicaca. Located at an altitude of 3812 meters in the Peruvian desert, here there are 40 floating islands. Originally created by the Uros people of Peru from Inca times, beautiful islands are used for refuge and shelter from the war that never stopped in their homeland. Made with carefully hand, this floating village composed of layers of thatch grass tortora who put together and tied to a floating base structure, such as pontoons. The result is like a giant raft, and great to be able to withstand heavy loads and large.

These islands are actually quite advanced and could be forced to be burdened but also must be repaired on a regular basis to maintain its strength. When the grass-thatched old started regardless of basic structure, weeds, new weeds replace the surface. Thatch grass are taken carefully from the edge of Lake Titicaca. These islands moored in place with ropes tied to wooden poles to the bottom of the lake.

Toilet Restaurant In Los Angeles

Posted on 21:09 by Unknown
A new unusually themed restaurant is America’s first bathroom themed eatery has just opened outside of Los Angeles County’s City of Industry. Inspired by Taipei’s quirky but very popular Modern Toilet restaurant, the Magic Restroom Cafe. Bathroom themed restaurants have had great success in Japan and China in recent years, over a dozen Modern Toilet locations have opened in Taiwan alone, so it seems inevitable that the trend would eventually come stateside.
The Magic Restroom Cafe is an eating establishment that allows patrons to sit on toilets to eat a variety of Taiwanese-style dishes named after poopy things. It has also a lot of the food names like ‘Black Poop’-Chocolate Sundae, 'Constipation' and 'Bloody' number two Vanilla-Strawberry Sundae is served in little ceramic toilet bowls. The restaurant is called Magic Restroom Cafe and basically the deal is you sit on toilets and eat goopy brown curry out of miniature commodes.

British Airways today took delivery of its new double-decker ‘superjumbo’ which airline bosses say will herald a new era for the nation’s flagship airline. BA says passengers will find its new £270million Airbus A380 bigger, more spacious, more comfortable, quieter and ‘greener’ than the ageing Jumbo jets it replaces – with fresher in-flight air to boot. The plane is the first of a dozen of A380s ordered by British Airways ahead of the model going into service in the autumn.

New Agriculture Technic Vertical Faming

Posted on 19:55 by Unknown
Columbia University’s Dickson Despommier says with his hi-tech solution offering fascinating design possibilities. With such a shortage of land and increased urbanisation, instead of growing crops horizontally, he proposes the Vertical Farm.Time to open your third eye and imagine that for every 10 blocks of your city, one block is a 30-storey glass skyscraper filled with the hues only found in the plant kingdom. The crisp green of lettuce on the first level, the ripe red of tomatoes and strawberries on the next, and the golden brown of wheat on the top, with the crystal blues of water running through the infrastructure. A living rainbow city block that feeds 10 000 people.

The architectural design of the building allows it to capture the sun and wind and convert it into energy, which powers some of the farm. Inside, the farm workers are dressed in laboratory-white spacesuits to protect the plants from germs. The average farm worker now holds a post-graduate chemistry degree, because the techniques to grow plants inside (without soil, sun or rain) were mostly developed by NASA in their preparations for any long-term planetary relocations.

Amaziny Tiny Miniature Crocheted Animals

Posted on 05:16 by Unknown
A family-run crocheting manufacture from Vietnam proves that size doesn’t matter! Their miniature crocheted animals are so small that they fit on a finger tip, and some of them hardly reach 1/4 of an inch. The idea for the business was inspired by the youngest (10-year-old) member of the family, who’s greatly fond of various movie characters and loves animals. Her nickname even ended up being the name of the company. A five-member company uses different crocheting techniques in their work and always goes for nice and bright colors. The miniature animals are so detailed that every member of the tiny penguin family wears a differently colored scarf, the whale actually spits water out of its back and the birds even lay teeny tiny eggs.
